We are receiving unconfirmed reports that the famous Santa Cruz Track Club Pop-Up Tent has been sighted in the vicinity of Nisene Marks State Park, armed with what appears to be an unwieldy quantity of bagels and some coffee.
Accordingly, we strongly advise SCTC members to bring their friends, family members, and even total strangers to the park for a run this coming Sunday morning (August 3rd). Conditions that morning are expected to favor the capture of the tent, which will be undertaken by a skilled team of SCTC members who have already received specialized training in the art of luring feral pop-up tents by imitating their calls. The team expects to be able to subdue the tent in the dirt lot and have its bagels ready for redistribution to individuals upon their return from the Sunday group run, which will be departing from the same area at 8:30 a.m.
Though feral pop-up tents are known to be elusive, they are not dangerous, so we encourage runners and walkers of all ages, experience, and ability levels to visit the tent. You need not be an SCTC member to partake of bagels or to participate in the group run. We hope you'll join us for this rare opportunity to socialize, eat, and consume caffeinated beverages in the presence of a pop-up tent in the wild.
In addition to the Sunday run in Nisene (8:30 a.m.), we will hold form drills followed by a track workout at Santa Cruz High School on Saturday (8:50 a.m.). The tent will not be in attendance on Saturday, but Coach Greg Brock will be available to lead the drills and answer any questions you might have.
