Women's Team 
NYC Marathon 
  • Katherine Beiers was the oldest finisher of NYC Marathon, the young 87 year old finished in 6:16.39
  • Carmen Robles finished in 5:28:50
SCCAL Championship—Pinto Lake (2.93mi) 
  • Boys 
    • In the boys race Scotts Valley won with 30 points led by Jeremy Kain and Mitchell Ross who came in together at 15:10. Second, third and fourth were taken by Aptos, SLV and Santa Cruz respectively
    • Cory Nounnan and Cash Ebright from SLV took 3rd and 4th in 15:14 and 15:15 and Rayomond Brookman(Santa Cruz) rounded out the top 5 in 15:16.
    • Scotts Valley, Aptos, Santa Cruz, SLV and Mt. Madonna will advance to CCS Championships 
SCCAL Championship—Pinto Lake (2.93mi)  
  • GIrls 
    • Azalea Groleau (SLV) won the girls race in 18:11, she was followed by Susana Estrada (Aptos—18:17)), Amber Boothby (Scotts Valley—18:18), Gabby Hughes (Santa Cruz—18:34) and Emma McCain (Soquel—18:35).
    • Aptos won with 43 points, followed by SLV(66), Santa Cruz (76) Soquel (83) Scotts Valley(85) and Harbor(147) 
    • Aptos, SLV, Santa Cruz, Soquel and Scotts Valley all will advance to CCS championships! 
Collegiate Results 

Santa Cruz High graduate, Cate Ratliff got 9th place in the Big West Championships for CalPoly, running the 6k course in 21:09

In the PAC-12 Championship Mari Friedman (Santa Cruz) came in 20:57.5 for 44th place and to be the 4th runner in for Oregon State. Marea Zlatunich (Aptos) came in 21:11.9 for 59th place overall and to be the 3rd runner in for Cal. 

Matthew Founds (Soquel) finished 65th at the Mountain West Conference for Fresno State in 26:42.8.
 Jake Gill (Santa Cruz)  Claremont-Mudd-Scripps got 59th out of 131 runners at the SCIAC championships in 27:16.6. 


UCSC competes this Saturday 11/16 at Pomona/Pitzer in the NCAA DIII West Region for a chance to make nationals! Good luck to the slugs!

  • Tiffany Verbica got 1st Woman and 3rd overall in 56:06
High School 
  • PCAL Championship—Saturday, November 2nd at Toro Park (3 miles) 
In the Mission Division Monte Vista took 3rd as a team led by Andrew Bachman (4th place in 17:33)  Watsonville scored 9th in that division. 

In the Cypress Division St Francis (Watsonville) won led by Paul Kane, Patrick McCarthy and Julian Vargas (who took 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively) PCS took 4th led by Brigham Aldrich who got 11th place.

In the Santa Lucia Division Kirby took 3rd led by senior Elijah Stone. Pajaro Valley took 5th led by Maurice Moreno. 

On the girls side Watsonville's Layla Ruiz took 1st in the Mission Division in 19:30 with the fastest time of all divisions. The team took 8th. 

PCS senior Lizzy Armstrong won the Cyprus Division finishing with the 7th fastest time of the day. St Francis scored 4th as a team led by senior Camryn Ryan. 
  • SCCAL Championship—Thursday, November 6th at Pinto Lake 
    • These are the rest of the Santa Cruz County Schools and should be an exiting race! (I'll be driving to this one and helping out from 1:30pm-4:30, if anyone would like to join let me know!) 
 
  • CCS Championships—Saturday November 16th at Crystal Springs (San Mateo) 
    • Qualifying teams from the league championships will compete here for the section title and opportunity to make it to state championships!

Monterey Invite (3mi) 

SLV got 8th as a team and Scotts Valley was close behind in 12th out of 18 teams in the girls varsity race. 

The top local individuals were:
  • Azalea Groleau(SLV) got 3rd in 18:42
  • Gabby Hughes(Santa Cruz) got 8th in 19:05
  • and Emma McCain(Soquel) got 13th in 19:20

Scotts Valley won the varsity boys race! SLV got 7th out of the 23 teams. The top 3 local individuals were:
  • Jeremy Kain (Scotts Valley) 2nd in 15:40 
  • Cory Nounnan (SLV) 4th in 15:48
  • Cash Ebright (SLV) 5th in 15:49 
Middle School 1.6 Mile Race
In the middle school 1.6 mile race Arie Shae McNeil(PCS) got first in the girls race in 10:56. On the boys side, SCTC member Spencer Koontz(PCS) won in 8:45!
Collegiate Results
Under Armour Pre-National Invitational
  • Marea Zlatunich (Aptos High graduate) finished in 21:32 to be the 2nd runner in for the Cal Bears
  • Mari Friedman finished the 6k in 22:10 to be Oregon State's 7th runner in 
  • Cate Ratliff finished in 22:28 to score as the 4th runner on Calpoly's team
Bronco Invitational Mens 8k
  • UCSC Men's cross country won the open division and set a school record for team time at 25:12 team average for the 8k. Their top 3(Kellen O'Neil, Hayden Johnson, and Paul Colosi) finished sub 25 minutes
  • Santa Cruz High Graduate Hugh Chomentowski (Humboldt State) and ran 27:48. 
Bronco Invite Womens 6k 
  • Anaya Ward(Santa Cruz High) finished 61st in 21:42 to be UC Davis 3rd runner in the invitational race
  • Lila Roake(Santa Cruz High) was 27th in 22:41 in the open race 
  • UC Santa Cruz women placed 3rd as a team and set a school record averaging 22:42 for the 6k. They were led by Elana Muzzy(22:26) and Ashley Baudin (22:36)

Luke Nelson finished the 200 mile race in 81h 10m for 47th place overall!

Women's Masters 5k
  • Liisa Nichols 16th overall 21:21
Clovis Invitational
  • Scotts Valley High School boys won the small schools division of the Clovis Invitational 5k. They were led by Jeremy Kain (15:55), Logan Ross (16:19) and Ryder Brabo (16:32) who took 5th, 15th, and 20th respectively in the 5k
Crystal Springs Invitational
  • In the boys championship division—SLVs Cory Nounnan (15:46) and Cash Ebright (15:47) took 15th and 16th respectively, while Aptos Junior Ben Laughlin took 34th (16:11) in the 2.95 mile course.
  • In the varsity race Raymond Brookman of Santa Cruz placed 2nd in 15:57, Eli Ainsworth of Soquel took 7th (16:15) and Hunter Kelly of Santa Cruz took 25th (16:55).
  • For the girls—SLV's Kayla Penny took 7th in the championship division (18:53) with Azalea Groleau in 10th (19:07). Aptos's Susana Estrada was 17th in 19:27, and Santa Cruz's Isabel Sanchez was 22nd (19:40).
  •  Soquel's Emma McCain and Ava Manier took 9th and 21st in 19:57 and 20:58 respectively for the varsity division.
