I started running the 80’s and ran my first Wharf-to-Wharf in 1982 where they handed out numbered tongue depressors to the first 100 finishers. I joined Santa Cruz Track Club in 1992 and started to learn the importance of stretching, warm-up drills and track workouts even though my focus was on the marathon. I’ve run 40 marathons, countless 10ks, ½-marathons, trail and cross country races, and will always remember the camaraderie shared with friends and fellow runners.
I became interested in club management in the late 1990’s because I realized the benefits of a running team and community for my own running and those around me. I served as the club president from 2001 to 2014 helping establish a base of races the club manages and supports. I continue to look forward to helping with club activities and encouraging fellow runners. |
